I crawled under the 4Runner to get my wiring harness hooked to my trailer this weekend. I was afraid to look at the back rim and tire on the driver’s side of the vehicle as I had a feeling I would see evidence that the axle seal was leaking.

Yep. It was leaking. I suspected that the shop I had replace the axle seal, bearings, etc. didn’t do the job right. Less than 1500 miles and it is leaking again.

The 4Runner is at the local Toyota dealer now. I talked to the service manager about the situation and he said it is clear that the job wasn’t done right, but he won’t know exactly what was done incorrectly until he tears it apart.

Lesson learned? We’ll see what happens.
