The AC and DC factory plugs in the rear of the 5th Gen are only hot when the engine is on or when the 4Runner is in accessory mode. If you have a 5th Gen, this is not new news to you.
I wanted a solution that allowed me to control when the power is on or off and also provides protection from accidental excessive discharge of my battery. I chose to wire my aftermarket rear power source to my Switch-Pros 9100 as it allows me to control when the power is on, either through the touchpad on my dash or using the Switch-Pros app on my phone. The Switch-Pros 9100 also has protection for accidental excessive battery discharge.
